On Sunday, February 1, 2026, Pokémon GO will host a dual Community Day with Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix. In addition to increased spawns (with a chance of Shiny and Special Background), the event includes exclusive evolution moves and an extended bonus window (until 9:00 PM) for players who want to keep farming at PokéStops with Lure Modules.

What was announced

Pokémon GO has confirmed that the February 2026 Community Day (Sunday, 02/01) will feature two Pokémon: Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix, with higher wild spawn frequency during the main window (2:00 PM–5:00 PM, local time). With some luck, players may also encounter Shiny versions and/or Pokémon with a Special Background.

In simple terms: this Community Day is focused on efficient farming (XP and Candy) and exclusive-move evolutions, with a strong “second phase” via Lure Modules until 9:00 PM.

Exclusive moves (evolution window)

  • Evolve Vulpix during the event or up to 4 hours afterward to get Ninetales with Energy Ball (Charged Attack).
  • Evolve Alolan Vulpix during the event or up to 4 hours afterward to get Alolan Ninetales with Chilling Water (Charged Attack).

Practical note: if you want to secure the moves, plan your evolutions between 2:00 PM and 9:00 PM (local time). This is the combined window of the event (2:00 PM–5:00 PM) plus the post-event period (up to 4 hours).

Event bonuses (and what to prioritize)

  • 3× XP per catch — great for fast leveling through mass catching.
  • 2× Candy per catch — ideal for evolutions and resource stockpiling.
  • 2× chance of Candy XL per catch (Trainer level 31+) — strong Candy XL farming.
  • Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) lasts 3 hours.
  • Lure Modules last 1 hour and can attract the featured Pokémon.
  • 1 additional Special Trade (up to 3 total for the day) and 50% less Stardust for trades.
  • Snapshots during the event may trigger a surprise.

The event’s “second phase”: Lure Modules until 9 PM

The standout feature of this Community Day is the Lure Module bonus: from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, there is a very high chance of finding Vulpix and Alolan Vulpix at PokéStops with standard Lure Modules active. They can still be Shiny and may have a Special Background. In practice, this reduces the pressure to “do everything in 3 hours” and rewards players who follow a PokéStop route.

Special Research (ticket) and rewards

There will be an exclusive Community Day Special Research for US$1.99 (or local equivalent). Confirmed rewards include: 2 encounters with Vulpix with a Special Background, 1 encounter with Alolan Vulpix with a Special Background, additional encounters, 1 Premium Battle Pass and 1 Rare Candy XL. The ticket can be gifted to friends at Great Friends level or higher (with restrictions) and is non-refundable.

Impact

  • Best XP window: 3× XP per catch favors long sessions and dense routes.
  • Candy and Candy XL: an excellent event to prepare Ninetales/Alolan Ninetales with XL investment.
  • Exclusive moves: this is the kind of event where missing the window is costly — evolve on time.
  • Social: discounted trades and an extra Special Trade encourage group play.
